Howdy,
Here’s the next collage installment from the upcoming album. Take a strange trip down memory lane with this unedited 2009 demo of Black & Blue, recorded immeidately as it was written in an early bedroom studio in Denton, TX.
This record captures a pure moment and it’s like being a fly on the wall. Get in the time machine and listen to the raw, beautiful, ugly moment of the song being born, warts and all. It was recorded on the original 1st generation iPhone.
I used to live in a house with a friend and mega-talented polymath named Julian Pastrana, and this song was one of 100+ songs that came out of that college season. In our time, between him and I we wrote 2 or 3 albums each individually, and another couple albums collectively. What a time to be alive.
In the age of AI songwriting, hyper-polished AI production, and AI girlfriends, I hope this song is a breath of fresh air for you in all it’s human flaws, cracks and blemishes.
Happy 2026. Make music human again.
